This
spiny shrub/tree can grow to 20 feet and is native to Korea
and N China. It can be used as hedging material and does
not seem to mind being cut back. It is perfectly hardy.
The spines are 1-2 inches long and very sharp. The fruits
are like small oranges about 1½ inches across. See
Poncirus trifoliata (fruit).Very
bitter, but can be used in conserves and drinks (Rutaceae
family).
