Azara
serrata (flowers) 24th May 1999, Sunningdale
Azara
serrata (Flacourtiaceae
family) is prone to spring frosts just as the blossom is
due to come out, but the tree itself is fairly hardy. In
very severe winters the leaves may be burnt black.
This specimen is about three metres high. Behind it is the
red blossom of the Hawthorn.
