Clematis recta
'Purpurea' (Ranunculaceae family) is a late flowering herbaceous
clematis which has deep purple leaves in the Spring and purple
young leaves now (see top of photograph) although the mature
ones have now turned green. I used to train it up a support,
but the flowers were above eye level, so now I leave it to
billow out on its own and enjoy the flowers.
