Distribution in the wild:
Endemic to Turkey, on dry slopes, limestone and serpentine
scree at 1100-2170 m.
Flowering in the wild: June-August
angustifolia means having narrow leaves.
Closely related to P. linearis Boissier & Balansa and
P. armeniaca Willdenow. It differs from both by its very
narrow leaves and the fact that the inflorescence has glandular
hairs.
Herbaceous perennial to 60 cm, with glandular and non-glandular
hairs. Basal leaves stellate-tomentose, upper surface green
or yellowish-green, with ± loose indumentum, lower
surface densely whitish stellate-tomentose, glandular hairs
sparse or absent, lanceolate to linear-lanceolate, obtuse
or subacute, cuneate towards base, entire or indistinctly
crenulate at margin, 4-12 × 0.5-1.5 cm; petiole to
8 cm. Upper stem leaves smaller with ± numerous glandular
hairs. Floral leaves linear-lanceolate, spreading, to 12
× 0.8 cm, with stellate and numerous glandular hairs.
Two to five distant whorls per stem, 4-8 flowered. Bracteoles
numerous, linear, 6-12 mm, densely stellate and glandular.
Calyx 13-17 mm, yellowish stellate-tomentose, with longer
undivided, glandular and non-glandular hairs; teeth ovate-triangular,
subulate above, 5 mm. Corolla yellow, 30-35 mm. Nutlets
hairless. Hardy to -10°C.
